The final part of the first (of maybe more to come? I haven’t checked if Telltale has hinted at something like that) season of SBCGFAP now has also joined the steadily growing list of finished games. Like the other parts, I enjoyed them. The puzzles are pretty easy especially now after having played the other games in the season before the last, but they are always enjoyable and funny.
I get the feeling that the “Telltale Tool”, the engine Telltale uses to create these games, is nice to work with and doesn’t stand in the way of creativity too much. I just checked if the executable can be exchanged between episodes, but this doesn’t seem to be the case.
Judging from the games I’ve seen so far, it reminds me a bit of the SCUMM engine which I’ve been reading about “Rogue Leaders”, a book about the history of Lucasarts. According to the accounts in that book, the engine moved game programming out of the realm of computer science and opened it for game designers.
