This first episode was the best Telltale game episode I played so far, since it managed to get the old style of humour correctly. Some of the dialogue is hilarious. When trying to dip something in black ink: “I don’t want to make a mess. Ok, I do want to make a mess, but I don’t see how it would help.” (or similar). Also the riddle in the end is a nice variation of the theme “the character refuses to do what the player asks of him”.

The only thing Telltale should work on is the control scheme. It takes some getting used to that Guybrush can navigate to hotspots himself when clicked, but that you have to otherwise move with the keys or this mouse widget thingy.
